Dr Simon E. Malo. An Outstanding Latin American Educational Innovator. Zamorano University, Honduras
On February 23, 2019, the friends and family of Dr. Simon E. Malo met together in the arboretum that bears his name. Surrounded by the tropical trees he loves so much, and in the middle of the Zamorano university campus to which he dedicated most of his life, we recognized Simon's contributions to Latin America.
The plaque (see photo) cites four of the most important achievements of his administration. He also restored the financial health and strengthened the self-confidence of an institution in crisis. He had a strength that few cite: He was able to attract quality employees and knew how to let them work without interference; his mischievous and wise smile was the signal that he approved of your actions. In addition, Zamorano´s outreach program was created during his tenure. I am proud to be one of a group who worked with Simon's approval to break the barriers between the "School" and the surrounding community.
